The NOON Networkers were founded in 2011 as one of several BNI networking groups in Slidell, LA. Under BNI, we learned the basics of networking, how to give great referrals, and firmly established ourselves as one of the most dynamic networking groups in Southern Louisiana. We were not the largest group, but our numbers (referrals given, referrals received, 1-2-1’s, attendance, and other metrics) consistently put us at, or near, the top of BNI groups in our area.
In 2017, our entire group made the decision to transition away from BNI. We felt we had learned everything we needed to be successful as a networking group, and that we were continuing to grow into a group that could no longer be contained within the restrictive confines of BNI. We decided to partner with our local Chamber of Commerce.
Thus our group became one of several Chamber ONE groups in Slidell. We were still the “Noon Networkers,” just associated with a local organization. We had fewer restrictions placed on us, and greater freedom to grow and change organically as situations changed. We enjoyed several years of growth and renewed enthusiasm while under the Chamber of Commerce.
In 2019, our local Chamber of Commerce was merged with another regional Chamber to create one Chamber for our entire parish. At this time, the new Chamber was not interested in continuing the Chamber ONE program, so the “Noon Networkers” became an independent organization. Over the years we had gained the strong personal roots and solid organizational foundation to remain successful in the future.
Now, standing on our own two feet, as the “Slidell Noon Networkers,” we’ve continued to grow and feel our way into being an independent entity. At the beginning of 2020 we were positioned to have an amazing year of growth, both in our group, and in our individual businesses. THEN CAME COVID-19… Like many networking groups, we had to figure out how to continue working together and maintain strong relationships in a post-pandemic world. We transitioned to weekly ZOOM meetings for many months, but no matter how good the technology, nothing beats face-to-face networking.
As soon as we could, we began (safely) meeting in person again. 2020 showed us how important our weekly meetings were, not only to the growth of our businesses, but to the growth of our relationships, and ultimately our own positive mental outlooks. We’re re-energized after experiencing a year of COVID, and ready to get back into the business of networking, building great relationships, and HAVING FUN!
